I went back to the doctor today and she looked at my foot again. It was still pretty painful when she pressed on the target area, which wasn't what I was hoping would happen. She thought it would be a less sore by now (two weeks later), so she wrapped it up again in the soft cast/wrap and told me to come back next week for the second round of x-rays. She thought it would be too early to see the stress fracture this week. So that means at least one more week of walking around in this less than fashionable shoe!
So, the USAF Marathon is definitely a no-go. I'm not just coming to terms with that, I came to the realization awhile ago, I just didn't want to actually say it out loud. :) Taking it much better than I would have in the past. Guess I'm just getting more mature in my running.. :)
Next steps?
1. Focus on healing properly and throughly
2. Dallas Marathon -- Dec. 14 ??????

Focus on healing - great goal!
Well, that sucks. But you sound reasonable about how it will affect your goals and that reflects a solid way of thinking.
Well, that's not the best news to hear but you are taking it like a champ. Rest up and heal so you can look forward to Dallas
Take it easy - be smart about it!
And thanks for the well-wishes!!!
